What is an Aerogarden Pods DIY?
Aerogarden pod planting is the perfect way for beginners to get into gardening. Aerogarden pods use oxygen to grow plants, and the gardening process is simple, fun, and easy. Simply fill the pod with soil, seed the pod with the desired plant, water the plant, and watch it grow.
Aerogarden pods are the perfect way to garden indoors. Not only are they easy to set up, but they also require very little maintenance. All you need is the aerogarden kit and grow medium (pellets or soil).
Aerogarden pods are the perfect way to grow fresh produce in your own home. They’re easy to plant – just insert them into the soil and water – and the plants grow quickly in the aerogarden, producing fresh fruits and vegetables all year round.
Pods come with a variety of plants, so you can enjoy various flavors from your garden every day. In addition to fruits and vegetables, pod gardens can also be used to grow flowers and herbs. Make sure to rotate your pods and plant different types of plants together for a more diverse harvest!
To get the best results from your Aerogarden pod system, you should plant varieties of plants that are known to do well in a mix of soil and light. Some popular choices include tomatoes, basil, lettuce, peppers, grapes, or cucumbers.
To harvest vegetables from your aerogarden pod system, you will need to give the plants about 8-10 hours of sunlight per day. After planting your seeds in the soil pods, water and fertilize them as instructed.
You can then wait until the seedlings have grown a few inches tall before harvesting. Be gentle when pulling out the plants – they may be fragile at this stage.

7 steps to make DIY AeroGarden pods
This tutorial for making your own AeroGarden pods doesn’t use any plastic. We like to help take care of the environment in any way we can. This step-by-step guide doesn’t just tell you how to make seed pods; it also tells you how to make a tray for them.
This step-by-step guide shows you how to make a new seed pod out of aluminum without using grow baskets from the first set. This method is cheap, but it takes a long time and a lot of work to make copies of the original seed pods.
Step 1: Prepare aluminum pieces
To make the DIY seed pods, you will need an aluminum tray. Cut the pieces of aluminum to the right length to make seed pods with the same round shape.
Cut small holes in the bottom of each piece of aluminum with a pair of scissors. Fold these pieces then. Since the edges of the aluminum pieces are sharp, you should be careful when rolling them.
Then you need to fold down the tips you just cut. It would be best to fold the tip around the ring all the way to the top, leaving a little space for your AeroGarden seed pods. When you put down your little foil, it will come in handy.
Step 2: Make holes in the cylinders of aluminum.
Now, this is the step that is the most dangerous. To cut the slots in the aluminum tubes, you need a knife. These cuts will make it easier for water to get into the seed pods.
It’s better to cut the holes in the DIY seed pods from the top to the bottom. You can curl them up and push them down. Then you have some nice holes. It would help if they were smooth and clean.
Step 3: Make the DIY AeroGarden sponges
When you’re done cutting, make sure the sponge is about three-quarters the size of the aluminum pod. Before putting the sponge inside the pod, you need to make more holes in it.
The main hole is the first one to make. The seeds will be in this hole at the top of the sponge.
With a screwdriver, you can make holes in your sponges. Make sure you only cut halfway through the sponge. You don’t want the seeds to stay too deep in the pods.
Now you need to poke some holes in the sides. The side holes give the roots room to grow and keep them from getting too tight. You should start from the edges with a screwdriver. From either side of the sponge, you should try to screw into the hole in the middle.
Again, it’s easy to hurt yourself while doing this step, so be careful. Put your sponge on a rough surface instead of holding it in your hands. This is a small but useful tip from us.
AeroGarden sells a pack of 50 sponges that is another way to get sponges. If you bought AeroGarden sponges at a store, all you have to do is put the sponges in the grow baskets. After that, you can finish doing it yourself and start planting seeds for your next crop.
Step 4: Put the homemade sponges in the homemade pods.
Now it’s time to put the sponges into your seed pods to see if they fit. If your homemade sponges fit perfectly, you might need to push the sponges further down into the pods.
If the sponges are too big, cut them down to the right size. How your products and harvest turn out depends on how big the sponges are.
Step 5: Make the holes bigger
Once you’ve put the sponge in, you’ll need to make the cuts you’ve already made bigger. This will let water and food get to your seed from the inside. You can also leave the bottom part open so that any extra water can run out.
Step 6: Get rid of the grow label and make your own aluminum foil one.
For the next step, you need to cut some squares out of aluminum foil. These pieces of aluminum foil should be big enough to cover the tops of seed pods. Cover the top of your pod with aluminum foil, and then fold the edges to keep the foil in place. After you seal it, you need to make another hole on top and in the middle of your aluminum foil cover. The seeds will be able to grow up through the hole.
If you want to use the paper grow labels from the original kit again, keep them away from water to keep them in good condition.
Step 7: Put the cap on the DIY AeroGarden pods.
For the last step, you only need the caps from the old seed pod kit. If you take the time to make your own aluminum seed pods, make sure the lids fit. Working with thin aluminum is great because you can shape it however you want and it won’t break.
You can use old caps again, just like you can use the grow baskets and the grow labels. After your last harvest, please make sure to clean and dry them well.
