The AeroGarden Harvest Plus is an indoor herb and vegetable planter that is easy to use.
Since I’ve had the $150 AeroGarden Harvest for more than a year, I’ve grown dill that’s 3 feet tall, basil that’s the size of my palm, and tiny but tasty tomatoes.
With patience and water, AeroGarden’s hydroponic and self-watering countertop gardens make it easy to grow your own herbs, flowers, greens, and vegetables.
Even though the AeroGarden did most of the “planting,” it’s still fun to watch your seeds sprout and grow, and the fresh plants are delicious.
I’m the kind of home cook who feels pretty good about herself after making instant ramen with eggs, herbs, and vegetables. That’s mostly because my AeroGarden Harvest grows a jungle of fresh herbs and vegetables that I can “pick” whenever I need them.
I got the Aerogarden as a holiday gift, and even though it’s been more than a year, it’s still a great gift. I mean, look at these basil leaves that my husband and I were able to grow three or four months after we set up the planter.
What is a harvest from an Aerogarden?
The Aerogarden Harvest is an indoor hydroponic garden that grows herbs, vegetables, and even flowers using only water. Most Aerogardens, like the one we bought, come with a starter pack of seed pods and a bottle of nutrients. Our starter pack came with seeds for herbs, and we’ve also bought packs with seeds for tomatoes and other vegetables.
It can take a few months for the seeds to grow into herbs and vegetables you can use in cooking, but it’s oddly satisfying to know they came from your kitchen counter. We’ve had the Aerogarden for more than a year and have grown herbs and tomatoes in it twice. I wouldn’t say it saved so much money that the unit paid for itself, but it is a fun and useful thing to have in the kitchen.
AeroGarden Harvest Plus
The only difference between the Farm 24XL and the Farm 24Plus is that the Farm 24Plus grows plants an extra foot lower. This Farm indoor garden has a height of 24 inches, while the XL unit has a height of 36 inches.
Even though it has a lot more seed pods (24), it grows at the same height as the Bounty model with 9 seed pods. The shorter 24Plus model is made to fit in tight spaces and can be stacked with another unit. Still, it costs more than $100 less than the XL model.
In the end, the AeroGarden Farm 24Plus is for people who want shorter plants with good yields. But you can also put an AeroGarden Farm 24Plus on top of an AeroGarden Farm 24XL to make an indoor garden wall. So, you can use the Plus model for shorter plant types and let taller plants grow well in the Farm 24XL model, which has a longer grow height.
You get the following with the AeroGarden Farm 24Plus: 60W grow lights with a height of 24 inches and 24 pod slots
Split grow deck lets you grow different kinds of plants at the same time. For the Farm 24 Plus models, I recommend growing herbs and lettuce and not bell peppers or tomatoes. In the shorter 24Plus model, the taller plants may sometimes feel a little crowded. But that’s the only bad thing about this AeroGarden Farm model.
It has all the other main features of its upgraded model (24XL), like Vacation Mode, split garden sides, two 60W grow lights, and plant food, so you can grow plants whenever you want throughout the year.
The Farm 24Plus makes indoor gardening just as easy as the company’s other models. It has a one-touch Quick Plant setup, an automated light sequence, and system alerts for nutrient and water levels.
If you don’t want to grow tall plants but want more food, this may be the most versatile AeroGarden unit for you. But I think it’s worth it to spend a little more on the Farm 24XL model because it gives you an extra foot of grow height. It all depends on what you want to grow, though.
The Farm 24Plus works very well as a unit that can be stacked with other units in the AeroGarden Farm family. On its own, the grow height may be a bit short, but that depends on the grower.
From what I’ve seen, herbs and salad greens grow well almost every time in an indoor garden, and the same is true for the Plus model.
